1. Seljavallalaug

An abandoned swimming pool located in Iceland’s Eyjafjoll mountains, about a 25 minute hike from the farm road. The Seljavallalaug pool was built in 1923 by the local youth group and was abandoned in the late 1980s - when a new pool was built in the town. This old pool, built into the side of a mountain so naturally heated water runs into it, is much like swimming in a small, warm, lake with its murky waters and mossy floor. The only other abandoned pool I heard about in Iceland is called Sundlaugin and was purchased by Sigur Rós and  converted into a recording studio.
